The Department of Women and Child Development in Gujarat is currently facilitating the Aadhaar enrollment services. This initiative is aimed at children between the ages of 0 and 5, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers, as well as other individuals. The registration is taking place at the Anganwadi centers.
Since 2016, the Women and Child Development Gujarat has been designated as the Enrollment Registrar for the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in charge of Aadhaar Enrollment.
Aadhaar enrollment kits have been distributed at 426 block levels. These kits are used by 426 activated Aadhaar Operators authorized by UIDAI for enrolling children aged 0 to 5, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers, and other eligible individuals at the Anganwadi Centers.
The various schemes implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development offer significant benefits to beneficiaries. To ensure seamless access to these benefits, possessing an Aadhaar card is crucial. In order to facilitate Aadhaar enrollment and corrections, the department has established a system where beneficiaries can avail of these services directly at the Anganwadi centers during working hours from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
The Aadhaar kit works at the block level every Monday, and on other days as determined, Aadhaar operator conducts Aadhaar Enrollment in Anganwadis under his block.
Aadhaar enrolment & mandatory biometric update for children aged 0 to 05 years and adolescent girls is available free of cost at Anganwadi.
Between the years 2020 and 2022, an estimated 16.02 lakh new Aadhaar card registrations and 14.78 lakh Aadhaar corrections were successfully completed. This translates to a total of 30 lakh beneficiaries who have availed the Aadhaar services.
Among the 38.63 lakh beneficiaries registered in Anganwadis across Gujarat, approximately 97% of them possess an Aadhaar card.
