Pregnancy and lactation is an important phase of women’s life. Women needs extra nutrition during pregnancy period for the foetus and for breastfeeding the child during lactation period. To meet the women’s special nutrition needs, state government started Poshan Sudha Yojna on pilot basis during financial year 2017-18.
The pilot of Poshan Sudha scheme was launched in 10 blocks in five districts having substantial tribal population viz. Dahod, Valsad, Mahisagar, Chhotaudepur and Narmada.
Considering positive impact and results of the pilot scheme, approval has been granted to expand the scope of the scheme to cover all 14 - Tribal Districts (Blocks - 106, Anganwadi Centers - 13894) from financial year 2022-23.
Rs 118 Cr has been earmarked for Poshan Sudha Scheme for financial year 2022-23.
Approximately 1.36 lakh beneficiaries are expected to be covered every month.
Benefits Provided Under the Scheme
A mobile application has been developed for monitoring and review of the scheme.
Pregnant and lactating mothers registered at Anganwadi will be given one full meal Along with Iron & calcium Tablets and health nutrition education will be given.
