In order to improve maternal and child health, it is important to focus on the first 1000 days of life- the time between conception to the child’s second birthday - is a unique period of opportunity when the foundations of optimum health, growth, and neurodevelopment across the lifespan are established. The First 1,000 days are considered the "First Window of Opportunity".
In recognition of the necessity of nutrition during these 1000 days, the Government of Gujarat has approved the "Mukhymantri Matrushakti Yojana (MMY)" across the State in FY 2022-23.
The aim of introducing these schemes is to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women and mothers of young children while meeting their calorie and protein needs.
The scheme was launched on 18/6/2022 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of INDIA from the Vadodara district.
Beneficiary Eligibility: Women who are conceiving for the first time and mothers who give birth to their first child till the child completing 2 years of age.
Commodities: The nutrition kit includes 1 Litre of Groundnut oil, 1 Kg Tuver Dal, & 2 Kg Chana
1000 Days Portal: A portal (URL- https://1000d.gujarat.gov.in/) of Chief Minister Matrushakti Yojana has been developed with the help of NIC to make the benefits of this scheme available to the beneficiaries easily. Eligible beneficiaries can directly register for the benefit of the scheme by using the Aadhaar number and the support ID of the health department and get the benefit of the scheme from the nearest Anganwadi center. This portal has been developed as an initiative to achieve good governance standards.
